Mavroudi -Vourvoukeli Estate

BRIEF INFORMATION

The “Mavroudi” variety is counted among the oldest Greek grape varieties. Its name is associated with the characteristic feature of the grapes, namely their dark red color. This is a particular variety that displays rich aromas and at the same time, an intense tannic character, under correct vinification conditions. The micro-oxygenation process that takes place during its aging in oak barrels has as its result a wine with soft aromas of berries and notes of vanilla. A crimson color, with aromas such as those of cherry, strawberry, and aromatic herbs. Dry with a well-structured taste, pleasant acidity with rich tannins included. An intense aftertaste with good duration.

Appearance

Moderate bright crimson color.

Bouquet

The bouquet is dominated by the aromas of cherry, sour cherry, pomegranate, and spices.

Taste

Pleasant to moderate acidity, full-bodies tannins that combine well in the overall product. A fruity taste with the alternation of berries and oak aromas.

VINIFICATION

Vinification takes place with fermentation and extensive extraction (lasting 15-20 days) in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Aging in French oak barrels with a capacity of 225-300 Liters for 12 months. Malolactic fermentation has been carried out during the period of aging in barrels.

VINEYARD

The vineyards are located in Avdira at the southeastern end of the Protected Geographic Indication area.
