Aloe, the healing

Aloe is a herbaceous plant with succulent leaves that looks quite like a cactus. It belongs to the crinoid family and grows mainly in South America, Asia and Africa. It is very durable and consists of 96% water. Although there are more than 300 species of aloe, only aloe vera is used for therapeutic purposes.

Ingredients of aloe vera

Aloe vera gel contains over 75 ingredients, with many beneficial effects on health and beauty. It is a source of vitamins B, C, E and β-carotene. Contains minerals and trace elements such as magnesium, manganese, zinc, calcium, iron and selenium. It is also rich in carbohydrates, digestive enzymes and salicylic acid. Its leaves contain a wide range of substances necessary for the body, plant sterols and omega 3, 6 and 9 omega fatty acids.

Properties and actions of aloe vera

Aloe vera is beneficial for both indoor and outdoor use. Its basic properties concern the relief of the digestive system but also of the skin problems. Aloe vera juice and gel are ideal for detoxifying the intestines and skin, thanks to the vitamins and minerals they contain. Consumption of aloe vera juice or gel provides energy, toning and wellness, and can help maintain a healthy body weight. Aloe leaves also contain antioxidants that fight free radicals and enhance the action of the immune system. Aloe vera has a calming effect on digestive disorders such as heartburn, ulcers, constipation and irritable bowel syndrome. At the same time it helps to reduce bloating while improving digestion.

As for the skin, aloe vera acts as a protector on it. It contributes to the replenishment of its moisture, thus helping its regeneration. In addition, it moisturizes without leaving a feeling of oiliness and is ideal for those with oily skin. Aloe is soothing and can reduce inflammation, pimples, itching and heal sunburn. Due to the high water content, aloe deeply moisturizes the skin. It has a soothing and emollient effect on sensitive, allergic and dry skin, while it can also help prevent dandruff. Aloe vera gel can be used before shampoo for best results.
